Wood Grades
Grade describes the wood's natural appearance and manufacturer quality. It's important to understand what different grades mean before you start shopping for a floor.
- Select and better grades are uniform in color, without any defects in the natural grain of the wood.
- Clear grade has very few flaws or character marks with only minor imperfections.
- Traditional or character grade has more pronounced color variations with more character marks within the wood, creating a rustic, rough-hewn feel.
- No. 1 common grade has light to dark color variations, as well as some knots and holes.
- No. 2 common grade has visible character marks such as knots, holes, and color variations.
